Carseldine Village WINS at The Urban Developer Awards 2024

We are excited to announce that Carseldine Village was announced WINNER in the Award for Decarbonisation in Real Estate, at The Urban Developer Awards on Wednesday, 31 July 2024.

The pressing issue of balancing the increasing demand for housing with the imperative of environmental sustainability is evident in Queensland.

With an ever-growing population the need for affordable housing intensifies, yet conventional development often prioritises immediate output over enduring ecological viability. Consequently, carbon-intensive housing emerges, putting further strain on the environment.

The challenge lies in building housing without resorting to non-sustainable practices. Through sustainable and innovative design, Carseldine Village has aimed to bypass a “green premium” by demonstrating that sustainability measures can, and should, be integrated seamlessly into the development framework from the outset.

The Carseldine Village vision has always been to deliver affordable, high-performance, accessible housing for the entire community, that is gas-free, and aligned with the state’s climate goals. The tricky balance is being able to deliver these while overcoming the cost, awareness and infrastructure limitations, and technological barriers that often prevent sustainable initiatives from being included in traditional development.

This approach ensured the 182 freehold terrace homes at Carseldine Village are highly sustainable – a scale that makes a real impact.

Through partnerships with energy suppliers and researchers, the homes are pioneering smart technology, solar panels, batteries, and energy-efficient systems. The garages are future-ready to support electric vehicles, and the homes have exceptional thermal performance and airtightness. This translates to net-zero emissions, minimal carbon footprint and low running costs for our residents – resulting in homes that are affordable to purchase, and live in.

We are proud to be recognised for our work in delivering a sustainable and innovative community for the people of Queensland.
